Come get hands-on (and plenty dirty) learning about clay plasters by mixing and applying them to the straw bale walls of the Petitt family’s dream home. In this first plaster workparty, we will be using locally sourced soil to create the base coat, which we will apply by hand.
Clay plasters are a great choice for sustainable building because they are nontoxic and have very low embodied-energy. They are particularly well suited to straw bale buildings because they manage moisture well and are vapor-permeable, allowing the bales to “breathe.”
This workparty is FREE and open to all skill levels & abilities, but space is limited and registration is required. To register, visit www.simpleconstruct.net or follow this link http://www.simpleconstruct.net/?workparty-registration,45
Thank you for your interest,
