Organization Structure

This is the organizational playground structure of the Natural Building Network.  If you are interested in seeking a place on the Action Council or Vision Council, becoming a Project Leader or Mentor, and are currently a member of the Natural Building Network please contact us at board@nbnetwork.org.

VISION COUNCIL

( or Advisory Board)

Purpose: to assess, plan, create and define the mission of NBN as derived from the needs of the NB movement.

  1. Meets 2-4x a year
  2. Has at least 5 members
  3. Includes one member of the ACTION BOARD
  4. Determines the priorities of the natural building movement then hand recommendations to the ACTION BOARD to determine and implement
  5. Hold the vision of NBN and support the financial flow of the organization.

ACTION COUNCIL

(or Action Board)

Purpose: to meet the needs of the organization to implement the mission of NBN.

  1. Meets 12x a year with council members, meets with individual project leaders every other month.
  2. Has at this stage 8 members each on a 2 and a half year term, though the structure can shift as different priorities arise.
  3. Includes in its roster:
    1. Director of Communications/Public Relations – webteam, surveys to membership, blogs, links, media relations
    2. Director of Financial Abundance –Finance and Affiliations – long-term financial development, connect to business, schools and organizations
    3. Director of Financial Abundance – Fundraising – invents or discovers ways to bring in income
    4. Director of Operations – non-profit mgmt, contracts, agreements, supports chair, secretary, treasurer
    5. Director of Membership – recruiting, new member outreach, renewals
    6. Director of Marketing and Events – materials and efforts to put NBN in the public, coordinates big gatherings, meetings and presentations
    7. Director of Education – emerging builders, workshops, mentoring programs, collect info [precedents, etc], organize library
    8. Director of Personnel – takes responsibility for evaluating directors and staff and manages board nominations and elections, board training/development
    9. Director of Advocacy – codes, legal, legislation
  4. Determines how to create, revise and implement the mission of NBN and the agenda recommended by the VISION COUNCIL then create projects and tasks to hand on to PROJECT MANGERS and their groups.
  5. Creates strategies to implement the vision and mission of in their respective focus areas.

PROJECT LEADERS

Purpose: to take responsibility for and coordinators specific tasks or projects which fulfill the mission and vision of NBN.

  1. Meet once a year as a group to share projects and resources with the rest of NBN and each other.
  2. Meet every other month with the Director of the Committee which oversees the project.
  3. Can be unlimited in number
  4. Can include anyone willing to take on leading a project.
  5. Determine how a particular project or task is implemented including creating budget and timeline. Projects may be initiated by the ACTION COUNCIL or by anyone willing to take the initiative, but PROJECT LEADERS must have a point of contact within the ACTION COUNCIL and another MENTOR to support their project and bounce ideas off of.
  6. Create teams or groups to support projects as needed.

MENTORS

Purpose: to act in an advisory capacity to support any designation within the organization of NBN.

  1. They can support VISION COUNCIL members, ACTION COUNCIL members, or PROJECT LEADERS as needed.
  2. They agree to be available for consultation or review, especially for PROJECT LEADERS.
